Deloitte sees the rumors that anticipate the end of terrestrial television as exaggerated
Despite the rumors that continually flood the industry, the consultancy considers that terrestrial television will enjoy good health in 2020.
The latest report of Deloitte in which it outlines its technological forecasts for 2020, it foresees that terrestrial television will continue to enjoy good health despite the bad omens that are continually received.
The consultancy estimates that in 2020, at least 1.6 billion people around the world, representing 450 million households, will consume part of their content on the small screen through an antenna.
Coupled with projected revenues of $32 billion in 2020 from video-on-demand (AVOD) advertising, terrestrial television is helping the global media industry continue to grow even as TV viewing minutes decline and, in some markets, increasing numbers of consumers cutting the pay-TV cord.
Deloitte believes that world income by television advertising will grow by more than 4 billion dollars in 2020, reaching $185 billion in 2021, compared to $181 billion in 2019.
Although some consulting firms predict that television advertising revenue will fall by $4 billion between 2018 and 2021, Deloitte thinks it will grow in that same proportion.
