Switzerland thus becomes the second European country, after Belgium, to choose to disconnect a DVB-T instead of migrating to the second generation of the standard.

Switzerland thus becomes the second European country, after Belgium, to choose to disconnect a DVB-T network instead of migrating to the second generation of the standard. Since last December 1, the Belgian public VRT has stopped broadcasting on DTT.
In the case of Switzerland, the end of DTT broadcasts responds to the authorization that the regulator, the Swiss Federal Council, has attended Swiss public television (SRG) as part of a plan of savings measures.
Due to the complex terrain of the country, SRG currently has a network of 200 DVB-T transmitters. However, Only 1.9% of Swiss homes use digital terrestrial signals.e to watch television.
Thus, the public broadcaster will cease its DTT broadcasts under the DVB-T standard throughout the country as of June 3, 2019.
DTT viewers will be informed of the blackout through signs on the television screen starting next January. In addition, it has launched a page informative web and a telephone line.
SRG recommends a alternative reception such as DTH satellite, cable or IPTVThe regulator estimates that around 64,000 homes will be affected by the blackout.
