RTVE rules out external hacking in one of the +24 digital signals

Spanish Television on one of its digital channels +24 “sneaked” on the 12th an interview between Carles Puigdemot and Rafael Correa produced by RT. The Corporation has ruled out that it is an external hack.

To the astonishment of many, on the afternoon of last December 12 Spanish Television On one of its digital channels +24 (accessible via the web and from the Red Button) it was broadcasting in a loop an interview between the former president of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont, fled from Spanish justice, with the former Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa produced by the international television channel Russia Today (RT).

Initially it was thought that this broadcast could be due to a hack since the editor-in-chief of RT, Margarita Simonyan, stated that they did not know who had done it “…but it was beautiful.”

After the incident, Spanish Television has reviewed internal processes of said broadcast and the first conclusions have external computer sabotage ruled out. According to the public corporation, the interview on +24 was followed throughout the day by 864 unique users.
