TVE Internacional, Canal 24H and RNE begin broadcasting from Hot Bird 13B throughout Europe
Starting this month, RTVE broadcasts both channels in high definition and in the DVB-S2 format, more efficient than the previous generation of the satellite standard.
Continuing with its emissions commitment for Europe and openly TVE International and the 24 Hour Channel, in addition to the emissions of RNE, and in the best conditions for its users, RTVE begins broadcasting this December through satellite Hot Bird 13B, with a large implementation throughout Europe, which reaches the entire continent and even neighboring countries, using small-sized parables for users.
In addition, RTVE has decided to begin broadcasting in High Definition of TVE Internacional de and Canal 24H. To this end, more capacity has been provided on the new satellite to improve the quality of the emissions.
At the same time, the Corporation will replace the previous DVB-S standard with the new generation DVB-S2, thus achieving greater bandwidth efficiency.
These renewals do not affect the content of the programs or the schedules, since they are only technical changes, however, in order to continue receiving the RTVE signal, it will be essential that users, who currently receive these RTVE programs in these areas, make some changes to their facilities.
Specifically, it will be necessary to slightly modify the orientation of your satellite dish to point it at the new satellite.
You must also have a DVB-S2 type satellite receiver, a feature that the receivers that have been sold for years already include this system, and be high definition. Finally, the receiver must be retuned and configured with the new parameters.
In most devices this process is very simple and is carried out automatically, once the corresponding receiver menu has been chosen.
All the technical parameters of the satellite broadcasts of this RTVE platform, both current and new, are available here.
To facilitate the transition, RTVE has planned a period of simultaneous broadcasting on the two satellites of two and a half months, from December 15 to February 29. During that time, users will be able to make the change whenever they want, since both emissions (in Astra and Hot Bird) will coexist during this period.
However, as of March 1, 2020, only the new broadcast will remain on the air, so if the indicated changes have not been made before, the RTVE signal will not be able to be received. An on-screen label on broadcasts that will cease will periodically remind you of the need to make these changes.
In addition to the TVE channels, you can also receive six Spanish National Radio stations: RNE, Radio 3, Ràdio 4, Radio 5, Radio Clásica and Radio Exterior de España.
