MIP TV online + Throughout this week, it has offered the possibility to production companies, distributors and TV channels to participate, with projects and content, in a virtual event where talent has been the hallmark.

MIPTV Online + has maintained the central part of the program planned for MIPTV 2020 in which the Spanish presence was transversal and very significant, with series and projects in all the events and competitions held this year. Added to this fact is the selection of 4 entertainment formats and 2 fiction series featured in the classic Fresh TV Formats and Fresh TV Fiction sessions. All these sessions, content and project pitching could be followed in streaming and live from Monday, March 30 to Thursday, April 2.

The winners of the different pitching sessions held this week, as well as the Drama Buyers Summit, will be announced starting Monday, April 6.

The wit

Fresh TV

The classic Fresh TV sessions carried out by the international consulting firm The Wi., and originally designed to show market trends to buyers participating in the fair, they have confirmed the good moment of Spanish content.

In the Fresh TV Formats session, Spain led the ranking by country in number of formats selected with 4 new titles: two formats from Beta Entertainment, Cheat Shazam y Restaurant Swap and two more from the Mandarina production company, Don’t Delete It y Locked Up in My Show, the latter are distributed by Mediterráneo, the new Mediaset España company.

For its part, on Fresh TV dedicated to international fiction, two Spanish series have stood out The Fence produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Good Mood Productions and distributed by Atresmedia Sales and Mothers, produced by Alea Media for Mediaset España and also distributed by Mediterraneo Mediaset España Group.

Drama Buyers Summit

The international meeting Drama Buyers Summit is conceived as a screening selection where the first season of new series that will be marketed and scheduled in the following months around the world are presented for the first time. This session has restricted access only to invited buyers and the titles presented are selected by a jury of international experts.

This year there are 10 series in competition and the selection criteria include, among others, the script, production quality, originality and international appeal. Spain competes with 3 series and is the country with the highest number of selected proposals; comedy Benidorm from Plano a Plano produced for Antena 3 and distributed by Atresmedia Sales, the drama series Missing also production of Plano a Plano but in this case for Telecinco and whose rights Mediterraneo represents and Nasdrovia original series from Movistar+ together with Globomedia that is sold internationally by the Mediapro studio Distribution.

Producers to Watch

MIPTV 2020 for the second consecutive year has prepared a special program in which within the section InDevelopment, presents to the international market a selection of producers of various nationalities and whose profile may be interesting at an international level. The decisive factor in the assessment is the potential for future projection of these professionals, which has been called Producers to Watch.

In this second edition, the audiovisual genres have been expanded, also including documentaries and animation, and 10 Spanish executives have been included in the definitive list in which producers appear whose content is reflected at some point in the official program of the event. Spain is one of the countries that has producers in each of the four audiovisual genres considered.

In the 2019 edition of MIPTV's Producers to Watch, two Spanish producers participated: Esther Sánchez from Ganga Producciones and Alfonso Blanco from Portocabo.
