These are intuitive and allow the presenter to perform these tasks. Likewise, it is possible to mix the audio.
The ATEM Mini Pro version It has controls for recording and transmitting over the Internet, and output selection buttons that allow you to switch between different cameras, the program signal or the multi-view function. On the back of the devices there are HDMI connections for cameras or computer equipment, microphone inputs, a USB port that allows the mixer to be recognized as a webcam and an auxiliary HDMI output for the main signal.
Very easy to use
One of the main features of the new mixer is that it is very easy to use. Simply press any of the numbered buttons on the front panel to switch between sources. In turn, it is possible to choose different types of cuts and effects using the CUT or AUTO buttons. Unlike the former, the latter allows you to change from one shot to another depending on the selected transition, for example, a dissolve, a fade to a certain color or other more dramatic effects. On the other hand, the device controls provide the opportunity to choose different positions for the superimposed images. It should also be noted that this model facilitates the storage of titles and graphics, which can be accessed through an external control computer program.
The device's HDMI inputs allow you to connect up to four high-quality camcorders. All fonts will be synchronized if they are in different formats, so there is nothing to worry about. In addition, it is possible to take advantage of the cameras' performance in low light conditions to film theatrical productions, weddings, school concerts or video clips.
In order to guarantee the widest compatibility, the USB port of the ATEM Mini model allows the device to be detected as a webcam by the programs used to broadcast content. This not only provides the possibility of transmitting images in HD 1080 resolution, through Open Broadcaster, XSplit Broadcaster, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Skype, Zoom, Twitch, Periscope, Livestream and Wirecast.
The ATEM Mini Pro model includes an Ethernet connection that allows you to stream live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitch with better quality, without skipping frames and through a much simpler configuration. Simply select the desired platform and enter the password to start the broadcast. For its part, the program ATEM Software Consl has panels for configuring the transmission, the status of which is indicated in one of the simultaneous display mode windows. This is very easy to interpret, since the data rate indicator shows the Internet speed required for the selected format.
This model also offers the ability to directly record full-length H.264 files with ACC audio to USB flash drives for later uploading to sites such as YouTube and Vimeo. Additionally, it allows you to use multiple storage media using a USB adapter or a Blackmagic MultiDock, so when one fills up, recording automatically continues on the next one. Recording settings and choice of units are configured in the ATEM Software Control program. In turn, the recording status will appear in the simultaneous display mode windows.
The two 3.5 mm stereo inputs allow you to connect lapel or desktop microphones. Furthermore, during an interview, the two additional audio inputs make it possible for both the presenter and the person being interviewed to have lapel microphones. The mixer also includes Fairlight tools to create an exceptional sound mix.
Each of the 4 HDMI inputs allows signal format conversion. In this way, the mixer is capable of Process sources in 720p, 1080p and 1080i automaticallyand. For its part, the HDMI output works as an auxiliary one, allowing it to transmit any of the four sources or the main signal. This provides the opportunity to view previews or monitor signals from connected cameras on a single screen.
The ATEM Software Control program provides access to all mixer functions. Its interface features an elegant design with a virtual panel and tabs for quick adjustments. Although the connection is normally established through the USB port, it is also possible to connect several computers through an Ethernet network, run copies of the program on each of them simultaneously and even save the device configuration in an XML file, in addition to controlling HyperDeck recorders to play clips.
The multimedia panel offers the possibility of store up to 20 RGBA images for use in titles, logos and opening sequences. It's even possible to leverage snapshots to create complex effects, such as graphical wipes. In addition, ATEM Mini models allow you to take screenshots of the transmitted images and add them to the multimedia panel. Graphics can be loaded directly from the ATEM Software Control program or imported using the Photoshop plug-in, which is ideal for sports scoreboards, for example, as they can be used directly in the player.
ATEM Mini models are ideal for newsletters or on-set presentations, since they have an advanced composer to performr chroma overlays, and another additional one for linear compositions. Likewise, it is possible to overlay titles or graphics with a green or blue background that will then become transparent when processed by the device.
Multipantalla
When doing larger productions with multiple cameras, it is very useful to be able to View all sources at the same time on a single screento. In this sense, the ATEM Mini Pro version has an option that allows you to monitor the sources, the program and the preview on a single HDMI television or monitor. Each window displays the feed from a camera and includes indicators to know which one is on air, as well as custom labels and audio meters. Additionally, it is possible to view the content of the media player, in order to confirm the selected graphic. It also has recording status and Internet streaming, as well as a Fairlight audio mixer.
Thanks to these tools, the ATEM Mini model allows you to carry out complex audio mixes with a total of twelve channels, including HDMI sources and two stereo microphone inputs. Each of them includes a 6-band parametric equalizer with compressor, limiter, expander, noise gate and sound distribution.
For a more professional workflow, ATEM Mini mixers provide the possibility of controlling cameras remotely. In this sense, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K models can be used as studio cameras, since they are controlled via the HDMI connection. This allows you to access the settings and color correction tools from the ATEM Software Control program. In this way, by modifying the ISO value, color, aperture, focus and focal length from a computer, the person in charge of the camera can concentrate completely on the shot. The application offers two viewing modes. The former resembles a traditional camera control unit (CCU), while the latter is similar to the DaVinci Resolve interface and allows you to give a cinematic style to any live production.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, emphasizes that “this new model is fantastic, since it not only offers all the features of the ATEM Mini version, but also the possibility of recording, streaming over the Internet or monitoring sources simultaneously.”
"We have been surprised by the type of projects in which our customers use the ATEM Mini model, and the truth is that we never expected that they would do so in complex productions. Now, with the ATEM Mini Pro version, we make their job easier thanks to the possibility of streaming over the Internet using the Ethernet port and at the same time recording to USB drives or monitoring the signal from all the cameras on a single HDMI monitor. It is truly incredible, and we would love to see what users are able to achieve with this new mixer," he concludes.
