The 'Stunt Tales' web series, produced with Blackmagic Design's ATEM Mini Extreme ISO mixer
ATEM Mini Extreme ISO mixer and DaVinci Resolve Studio software Blackmagic Design they shape the web series Stunt Tales.
Stunt Tales, which can be seen via YouTube, was created by Stephen Hart, stunt coordinator and performer known for his work on a wide variety of projects such as Jason Bourne, Reno 911! y National Treasure. Hart realized that there might be an audience interested in hearing the doubles' stories; artists, often forgotten. Hart and his small team, including his wife, singer and artist Gigi Worth, began producing the series with the devices they already had in their home: three cameras, shotgun microphones and lighting fixtures.
When post-producing the images, numerous problems emerged, since the editor was faced with a large amount of material recorded with different qualities. That's when Hart discovered the mixer ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. The solution allowed him to edit the format on the fly to avoid later complications in post-production.
The three cameras connect via HDMI to the ATEM. In order to benefit from the independent recording function, which allows signals and program to be stored individually on an SSD drive along with a recording project. DaVinci Resolve, Hart also began using the software Blackmagic Design.
Evolving format
Today, the web series continues to grow. Hart says he is very happy to be able to film the stories of his friends and co-workers: from Diamond Farnsworth filling in for Sylvester Stallone in Rambo: First Blood, even Joe Griffo in The Mandalorian. However, what Hart is most proud of is having created a medium to reflect the passion of other stuntmen: “I loved being able to share the story of how I hired Bobby Herron at 84 years old for an episode of Reno 911! in which he had to act out a fall from two steps, at his age! “These professionals do incredible things and those are the stories I am determined to preserve.”
Thanks to his new work dynamic, Hart is able to film more interviews and capture the stories of action dubbing professionals faster than before. As he concludes: “We recorded 12 interviews of two hours each in three weeks; that is, at least 30 episodes of the series Stunt Tales. In addition, we have another twelve prepared for the next three weeks. “This would not have been possible without the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO mixer and DaVinci Resolve.”
