Connectivity in remote areas, analyzed at the 5G Virtual Forum

Inés Sanz, Customer Engineering Manager at Hispasat, will explain the advantages that satellite provides to 5G such as security, robustness, multicast capacity and global coverage.

How to get 5G to areas where there is no terrestrial infrastructure, or it is scarce, is one of the topics that will be analyzed in the 5G Forum 2020 next May 6 and 7, in virtual format.

Inés Sanz, Customer Engineering Manager at Hispasat, will explain what are the advantages that satellite provides to 5G, “among which are security, robustness, multicast capacity and global coverage,” according to Sanz.

"The new satellites are already designed with an architecture inspired by 5G. The satellite will be capable of providing connectivity solutions to all people and all things regardless of where they are," advances Sanz.

For Sanz, in this situation of confinement the presence of the satellite in Spain is being missed due to its ability to reach remote areas: "once the satellite is integrated into the 5G standard we will have many more possibilities that we are not able to imagine."

In addition, Inés Sanz will present two projects that Hispasat is carrying out: the Darwin project, focused on providing a connectivity solution for the autonomous vehicle and the connected vehicle; and the project Energy5 for Smart Grid applications, where satellites allow the deployment and operation of energy networks with very high reliability and availability in remote and isolated areas.
