El periodista y profesor de Comunicación Audiovisual José Ramón Pérez Ornia ha fallecido este viernes a los 73 años de edad en Gijón.

Con una larga trayectoria en medios de comunicación, fue uno de los impulsores de la televisión autonómica asturiana, RTPA, convirtiéndose en su primer director general de 2005 a 2011.

He was part of the team that prepared the granting of private television licenses in Spain at the end of the eighties. Currently he was still linked to RTVE Institute where he launched a master's degree. He recently donated his library to the Carlos III University.

The Television Academy wanted to add to the pain and sadness over the loss of a great reference in the world of communication.

Pérez Ornia was a full professor and professor of audiovisual communication and advertising at the Complutense University of Madrid. Editor and television critic of the newspaper The Country For 14 years, director of Telemadrid and general director of communication for the presidency of the Government.

In addition, he was president of the Study Cabinet of the Audiovisual Communication (GECA) and director/editor of The Television Yearbook.
