Begoña Algarra, pioneer of digital imaging and computer-aided design, dies

Her work as a professional has been endorsed by more than thirty prizes and awards during her eighteen years as Director of Graphic Design at Televisió de Catalunya.

Begoña Algarra He has died in Barcelona. Pioneer of digital imaging and computer-aided design, she has worked for more than thirty years in the design area of TV3 assuming different responsibilities.

Her work as a professional has been endorsed by more than thirty prizes and awards during her eighteen years as Director of Graphic Design at Televisió de Catalunya.

Algarra Bonet began his career at TV3, Televisió de Catalunya in 1984, in the Artistic Direction Department, being one of the pioneers in digital imaging and motion graphics.

From 1990 to 2008 he was head of the Graphics service at TV3, holding the position of Head of Image during the years 1994 to 1996, the result of the merger of the Graphics and Set Design departments, to incorporate computer tools in the design of sets.

From 2009 to 2017, she was responsible for Relationship Marketing, the unit from which the chain's presentations and events were organized. Until now, from the Media Marketing Area, he was in charge of the CCMA's corporate image in all actions carried out off-screen.

From 2006 to 2009 he was part of the CCMA Innovation Commission with the purpose of working on knowledge management and innovation in Audiovisual Media.

In 2005, together with the Association of graphic designers and art directors (ADG-FAD) the creation of the first audiovisual design conferences in Catalonia, “Broad.cat, idees en moviment”, being part of the organizing team for 4 years. The idea was to create a meeting point where the most prestigious audiovisual creators worldwide could meet.

In 2003 he published the book Twenty years around a fly edited by Lunwerg, which reviewed the first twenty years of graphics on TV3.

The Television Academy has joined in the pain and sadness over the loss of this great professional.
