It will be the largest data center in Madrid, with 35,000 square meters of technical infrastructure. It plans to generate more than 500 direct jobs.

Interxion Madrid

Interxion has acquired land 14,550 m² in the San Blas / Canillejas neighborhood for the strategic expansion of its data centers in Madrid, the most connected in Spain. This plot, located less than a kilometer from the current Interxion data centers, has an electrical power of up to 34 MW to power 35,000 m² of technical space for customers.

The Interxion data centers in Madrid have become the main content exchange node in the Iberian Peninsula and by extension in southern Europe. Clients who deploy their critical infrastructure at Interxion Madrid have direct access to the main global cloud providers, as well as a community of connectivity providers, platforms and companies on six continents through PlatformDIGITAL, the global data center platform of Digital Realty, Interxion matrix.

The construction of this center is expected to generate more than 500 direct jobs and have an economic impact on GDP of between 9 and 12 euros for every euro invested. This strategic expansion project underlines Interxion's confidence in the future of the region as a digital node in southern Europe and its commitment to the development of the digital economy in Spain.

Robert Assink, director of Interxion Spain, highlights that “the restrictions on people's movements have shed new light on the role of data centers in the ecosystem of the digital economy.”

“Today, we are even more aware of the importance of connectivity and access to applications that allow us to work, study, watch content and make purchases from anywhere. Without data centers to connect users and companies it would not be possible,” he adds.

Interxion has operated in Madrid for two decades, promoting technological development in the region and managing more than half of the internet traffic in Spain.
