Isabel Díaz Ayuso visits the works of the Interxion MAD4 data center

En su intervención, Diaz Ayuso has highlighted the value of the region as an investment center: "Madrid is experiencing an economic renaissance and it is thanks to companies like Interxion. Thank you for choosing this place and helping us turn this small community into a place of opportunities. We want to be the digital center of southern Europe, there are thousands of technology companies that come to Madrid and bring their projects."

Datacenter Interxion MAD4Previamente, se ha celebrado este lunes, 22 de noviembre, una mesa redonda con la presidenta de ADigital, Carina Szpilka; el CEO de DXC Technology, Juan Parra; y Robert Assink, general director of Interxion Spain where they talked about the increasing weight of digitalization in the economy and the role of Madrid as digital capital.

"The digital economy contributes to 19% of our country's GDP, the second economy behind real estate. After the pandemic, this percentage has grown and the ambition is for it to reach 40%. Spain is at a decisive moment today because we have many very good ingredients that will allow us to position ourselves as leaders and we will not remain followers," said Carina Szpilka.

For Juan Parra, "in recent years the relevance that transformation and technology has acquired in companies has increased. Digitalization is a lever to differentiate, to be more competitive and efficient."

For his part, Robert Assink explained that "if we want to reach the level of Amsterdam, one of the main digital nodes, we must multiply the digital infrastructure (networks and data centers) by seven. These are relevant investments so that the rest of the economy can develop."
