ATX Networks names Dan Whalen president and CEO
Whalen brings more than twenty years of management experience in the broadband and content industry to his new role at ATX.
ATX Networks, a company specialized in broadband access and media distribution, has appointed Dan Whalen, a cable industry veteran and most recently Adtran's chief product officer, president and CEO, effective immediately. Whalen will also join ATX's Board of Directors.
Whalen brings more than twenty years of management experience in the broadband and content industry to his new role at ATX.
Camilo E. Horvilleur, member of the Board of Directors of ATX Networks and CEO of H.I.G. Capital, recognizes that "Dan is the ideal choice to lead ATX in its next phase of growth. A stellar record of achievements spanning sales, product and operational functions with some of the most prestigious technology firms in the world is the right resume to take ATX to the next level."
Whalen joins ATX at a pivotal time in the company's 35-year history. Today, nearly all cable operators rely on ATX RF management equipment to deliver video and broadband services. But as the HFC network evolves toward a distributed architecture, ATX has increasingly focused its core RF competencies on an external level. Those efforts resulted in the 2019 introduction of its GigaXtend Next-Gen Outside Plant portfolio, anchored by the industry's only licensed family of GainMaker-compatible hardline amplifiers and pins capable of supporting future frequencies of 3GHz or higher.
ATX is also seeking to expand the global footprint of its commercial services gateways, used by the world's largest pay-TV providers to deliver premium video services in millions of hotel rooms and other non-residential locations around the world. In October, ATX unveiled major enhancements to the MD Media Gateway Visium portfolio to make it easier than ever for service providers to increase the reach and revenue of their business service offerings.
Whalen highlights that "ATX has one of the most respected track records in media access and distribution networks, and the world's leading communications service providers rely on its innovations to drive their residential and commercial businesses. I am excited by the opportunity to build on that legacy, intensify our customer focus and make our solutions even more relevant to the future success of the global broadband community."
Prior to joining ATX, Whalen held various leadership positions at ADTRAN, Arris, Cisco Systems, Comdisco, KPMG and Bell Atlantic.
