Ross Video acquires Canadian company Image Video

Toronto-based Image Video is well known in the broadcast market for its TSI tally control platform.

Ross Video has acquired the Toronto-based company Image Video. Founded in 1974 (the same year as Ross) this company is well known in the market for its TSI tally control platform, used by numerous broadcasters, production companies, sports clubs, corporate video installations... all over the world.

Con sales in more than twenty-nine countries, a large customer base and hundreds of device protocols supported (ranging from legacy serial connections to the latest ST2110 workflows), the TSI platform remains a benchmark in Tally and UMD solutions.

This acquisition, Ross Video's sixteenth since 2009, will mark the Ross addition of Zach Wilkie and David Russell, along with its research and development and technical support teams.

Zach Wilkie, now Product Manager at Ross Tally Systems, is excited about the prospect of joining Ross Video. "As a Canadian company that was founded in the same year, we have obviously grown alongside Ross Video and have seen the impressive growth and expansion of the Ross business, especially over the last decade. We are very happy to be part of the family and this acquisition will help us reach new international markets and scale much more effectively," he acknowledged.

For its part, David Ross, CEO, reflexiona sobre el significado personal de la adquisición. “En 1973, mi padre estaba en el hospital después de romperse una pierna. Jim Leitch, el fundador de Leitch Video (ahora Imagine Communications) visitó y aconsejó a mi padre que fundara su propia compañía. Dijo que había un Leitch Video y un Image Video en Canadá, así que también debería haber un Ross Video. Es posible que si Image Video no existiera, mi padre no hubiera tenido esos modelos a seguir para mostrar el camino, e incluso… podría no llamarse Ross Video hoy”.

“Todos estos años después, Image es ahora parte de Ross, algo que mi padre está de acuerdo en que es bastante notable. La plataforma de tally TSI de Image es un gran complemento a nuestra gama de soluciones existentes y permite a Ross aportar aún más opciones al mercado de la producción en vivo”, concluye Ross.
