Playing For Change and LivestreamBCN broadcast live with Blackmagic Design equipment
The musical performances produced by this international organization are carried out with an Atem Mini Pro mixer that receives signals from several cameras, including the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K model.
Playing for Change, an international organization created to connect people through music, is carrying out live Internet broadcasts using a mixer Atem Mini Pro and one unit Pocket Cinema Camera 6K of Blackmagic Design.
The NGO brings together various musicians belonging to different musical genres who perform local concerts. These are transmitted through the organization's channel on YouTube, which has more than two million subscribers.
Carlos Larrondo, producer and co-founder of LivestreamBCN, has been linked to the foundation for the last seven years. The live broadcasts that he has made from Barcelona on said channel include performances by the singer Hugo Soares and the group Clarence Bekker Band.
Different requirements
Although the technical requirements for each event are different, all LivestreamBCN productions are carried out with an Atem Mini Pro switcher that receives signals from several cameras, including the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K model.
"For LivestreamBCN, making high-quality productions is essential. Our technical solutions must convey all the emotion of the performance. I chose the ATEM Mini Pro model for its flexibility, durability and portability, which allow me to adapt to what best suits the environment that the musician wants to reflect, whether in a studio, a concert hall or outdoors," explains Larrondo.
All productions are recorded in 1080p24 format, but Carlos notes that when working on gigs with a lot of movement, the additional frequencies of 30, 50 and 60 f/s are invaluable. For less complex projects, or when staff is limited, also control the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K model through the ATEM Mini Pro.
“The program ATEM Software Control It perfectly complements the user experience, and the options for assigning audiovisual signals are very easy to use and modify in the library file, which further improves the efficiency of productions. It may not seem significant, but it is nice to use, and this makes a big difference,” he adds.
According to Carlos Larrondo, producing the live broadcasts for Playing for Change during confinement has allowed LivestreamBCN to adjust its approach and work dynamics for the future.
"The ability to connect people through music is great, and the industry has had to adapt to the challenges that have arisen this year. Companies like Blackmagic Design have positively contributed to the innovation of Internet broadcasting, in order to create content that truly brings people together, no matter where they are in the world," he concludes.
