The UHD Spain association celebrates its founding ceremony at the Polytechnic University of Madrid
The objective of UHD Spain is to promote 4K, 8K, HDR, the New Generation of Audio and new audiovisual technologies in Spain.
The association UHD Spain, created to promote 4K, 8K and new technologies related to Ultra High Definition (UHD) in Spain, held its founding ceremony this Tuesday at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) with 30 top-level entities and companies from the Spanish and international audiovisual sector, which places Spain at the same organizational level that Germany, France, Italy and Great Britain already have in UHD.

he objective of UHD Spain, which is an initiative of the Andalusian production company Medina Media, organizer of the 4K HDR Summit since 2015, is promote 4K, 8K, HDR, the New Generation of Audio in Spain and new audiovisual technologies so that consumers receive content with the highest possible quality.
Unlike the rest of the other European associations, UHD Spain will have the peculiarity of being the only one that has the support of the three most important organizations worldwide: UHD Alliance, Ultra HD Forum y 8K Association, in which it will be integrated soon to have access to all its activities and progress.
As Spanish law regulates non-profit associations, in the same act of constitution the statutes were approved and the first one was elected. Board of Directors, which will be composed of seis entities: RTVE, Cellnex, Mediapro, Hispasat, Ametic and Medina Media, and chaired by the director of planning and technological innovation of Radio Spanish Television (RTVE), Pere Vila.
Since its inception, top-level Spanish companies in the sector have joined UHD Spain, such as Atresmedia, Lavinia, ADM Group, Sequoia Group, Huri, Henneo; technology companies like Tedial, Televés, Axión, Sapec, Egatel, Tredess, Gsertel y Telecom-CLM; the manufacturers association AMETIC; the association that represents private televisions UTECA; the National Federation of Telecommunications Installers and Integrators FENITEL and the association of installation, design, engineering, manufacturing, distribution, integration and telecommunications operators companies FECOTEL; in addition to the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM); and multinationals with operations in Spain such as Ateme, Canon, Dolby, Fraunhofer, Rohde & Schwarz y Vestel.
After its founding ceremony, UHD Spain will be open in the coming months to other companies, public and private, and independent professionals who want to join this non-profit association as partners or collaborators (companies and professionals).
The idea is that all members of the association will have access to the latest international developments and regulations in a collegial manner, in order to join forces and share knowledge from the greatest experts and leaders of Ultra High Definition (UHD) worldwide.
