Renaud Lavoid: “the integration of Embrionix into Riedel is the perfect union”
In this video interview, the senior vice president of technology at Riedel analyzes the keys to the integration of Embrionix into the German company.
After the acquisition of Embrionix a year ago now, Riedel Communications has reinforced its specialization in IP-based hardware and software, thus expanding its range of video solutions.
Renaud Lavoid, senior vice president of technology at Riedel, analyzes in this video interview the keys to this integration that he describes as a “perfect union.” The executive recalls that Embrionix was a pioneer in solutions for IP since 2010, even before the development of the SMPTE standard.
Furthermore, he emphasizes that the entire industry is migrating to IP in leaps and bounds, since "SDI is not advisable as a long-term investment. We still have 1GB switches but it will be difficult to see SDI arrays outside of a museum in the future."
The SDI to IP and IP to HDMI gateways that Riedel now has in its portfolio play a role in this migration as they allow costs to be optimized in installations of any size.
A good example of the possibilities that these solutions open up can be found in the migration carried out by the Canadian broadcaster CBC or, more recently, in Spanish Television, where Riedel, together with Crosspoint, is working both on the implementation of an IP intercom and on the implementation of SDI to IP gateways.
