The Academy of Television Sciences and Arts and EOI (School of Industrial Organization) present the latest study of the audiovisual sector in the analog era that aims to draw the map of the audiovisual sector at the same moment in which a definitive change of model occurs that the president of Corporación Multimedia has described as a 'perfect storm'.

During the presentation of the study The audiovisual industry in Spain, scenarios for a digital future, prepared by the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts together with the School of Industry Organization and Multimedia Corporation, the president of the Academy, Manuel Campo Vidal, pointed out that "no one expected that this transition would coincide with a severe economic crisis that has caused this transition to be carried out under severe conditions. He also added that this situation of technological change represents "an opportunity for innovation."

For his part, the president of Corporación Multimedia, Eduardo García Matilla, stated that "making a diagnosis of the situation of the analog stage and trying to give trends and potential scenarios has not been easy. For this reason, a methodology has been established outside of a standard white paper, but rather one that brought together the opinions of professionals in the sector. The basic conclusion that we draw is that it is the first time that there is unanimity that this change is unprecedented in the history of the media, which experts have described as "Perfect storm. Most actors recognize that we are facing a very profound structural change of model, not a current crisis."

In its pages, this audiovisual report takes a tour of the state of the sector from various points of view. The proliferation of channels, the implementation of DTT, what television stations spend their money on, the state of production companies, the new profile of the viewer, the origin of content, the relationship between cinema and television, the advertising market, intellectual property and the limitations of current measurement systems are some of the aspects addressed in the study. In his speech, the director of the Business School, Alfonso González, explained the importance of this work because "it is a thorough, precise and true study, which does not hide the uncertainties about a sector that represents enormous wealth for our country."

To prepare this report, the heads of the companies involved in the audiovisual sector have been consulted through interviews or focus groups. Among them are José Miguel Contreras (La Sexta), Augusto Delkáder (Unión Radio), Manuel Echánove (TISA), María Ferreras (Youtube), Miguel Ángel Fontán (TNS Audiencias de Medios), Daniel Gavela (Cuatro), Silvio González (Antena 3), Eladio Gutiérrez (Impulsa TDT), Koro Castellano (Tuenti), Enrique Laucirica (Forta), Rosalía Lloret (RTVE), Ángel Martín Vizcaíno (Telemadrid), Carlos Navía (ONO), Ángel García Castillejo (CMT), Pablo Romero (Digital +), Ricardo Vaca (Barlovento Comunicación) and Mario Tascón (Dixi Media), among others.
