The EBU will open the block on 5G and audiovisuals at the 5G Forum in Spain
Elena Puigrefagut, Senior Project Manager at the EBU, will be in charge of sharing with the Spanish technological and audiovisual community the vision of the European Broadcasters Union on the possibilities that 5G is opening up.
The European Broadcasters Union (EBU/EBU) will open the block dedicated to the developments of the 5G technology on television and in audiovisual consumption in the fourth edition of 5G Forum of Spain, which will be held in virtual format May 4 to 6 upcoming, organized by Medina Media with Panorama Audiovisual as media partner.
Elena Puigrefagut, Senior Project Manager at the EBU, will be in charge of sharing with the Spanish technological and audiovisual community the progress in the last year of an organization in which 115 members participate, with more than 2,000 radio and television channels and that reaches more than 1,000 million people in 56 countries, since entities not only from Europe, but from all 5 continents, are associated with the EBU.
"Our commitment is universal, regardless of age, or the social or economic status of people. 5G has the potential to play a relevant role over the next decade to deliver audiovisual content to everyone, particularly through mobile phones or tablets," advances Puigrefagut.
One of the important aspects for the EBU directive is how to reach young people. "It is very difficult to reach young people through traditional devices. Young people's Internet consumption grows faster every year. And public and private radio and television stations have to analyze how they can use these new ways to reach them, who spend less and less time in front of the television, and have better mobile devices," highlights Puigrefagut.
In this fourth edition, the second virtual one after the first two held at the National Digital Content Pole in Malaga, it has extended its agenda one more day (to three days) to offer space and visibility to the more than 50 5G projects that are already being implemented in Spain.
The 5G Forum is the most important specialized and academic event in Spain on 5G technology, in which Spanish companies, multinationals and public institutions annually present their advances and pilot projects to society.
Another of the great novelties of this year's edition, regarding the 5G Forum 2020, is that in addition to the presentations, sponsors will have the possibility of holding question and answer sessions with invited attendees and clients, demos, webinars and One2One meetings, with the new platform created by Medina Media Events and which was already launched at the 4K Summit 2020, the main world meeting on Ultra High Definition (UHD), and the Extenda Global last November.
