'The Vampire of Barcelona', 'The Girls' and 'My Mexican Bretzel', most awarded films at the XIII Gaudí Premis 2021
'The Girls' wins the Gaudí award for best feature film in a non-Catalan language, direction, photography and sound while 'The Vampire of Barcelona' wins the statuette for best feature film in a non-Catalan language, direction, photography and sound.
The debut feature of the Aragonese filmmaker Pilar Palomero, The girls, has triumphed in the 13th edition of the Gaudí Awards awarded by the Catalan Film Academy. The film that also convinced at the Goya, has won the Gaudí for best feature film in a non-Catalan language, direction, photography and sound.
For its part, La vampira de Barcelona, first feature film Lluís Danés, ha logrado cinco estatuillas: filme en catalán, dirección artística, vestuario, efectos visuales, y maquillaje y peluquería.
La debutante Núria Giménez Lorang ha ganado con My Mexican Bretzel los Gaudí a mejor documental, mejor guión y mejor montaje. Los documentales Niño de Elche ha ganado el Gaudí a la mejor música original por Niños somos todos, de Sergi Cameron, que sigue al artista en un viaje a Bolivia que le ayudó a experimentar nuevos procesos de creación musical.
With 54% of nominated candidates for professional women, the awards have followed the trend, rewarding twelve women compared to ten men, while there have been recognitions for women in traditionally masculinized categories such as the photography award, which has gone to Daniela Cajías, also winner of the Goya, for The girls.
The delivery gala was held under strict anti-COVID security measures in the Forum auditorium with the presence of 700 guests and with a protest touch from the Catalan Academy Isona Passola; the winner of the Gaudí of Honor, Carme Elías; or the TV movie team William's death, who have claimed freedom of expression.
