Direct fiber to the home (FTTH) and pay television subscribers grow
La cuota de mercado en banda ancha fija de los tres principales operadores se redujo el año pasado en más de 3 puntos y en telefonía móvil en 2,3 puntos porcentuales. La televisión de pago alcanzó los 8,2 millones de abonados, un millón más que en 2019.
Los ingresos de los servicios minoristas en telecomunicaciones cayeron en 2020, un año marcado por la pandemia por COVID-19, cerca de un 6% respecto a 2019, según los datos de la estadística trimestral publicados en CNMCData of the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC).
El último trimestre del año cerró con unos ingresos minoristas de 6.072 millones de euros, un 4,9% menos respecto a los del mismo periodo de 2019. El servicio de banda ancha fija creció en tasa interanual, un 2,4%, mientras que los ingresos del resto de servicios considerados disminuyeron.
Los tres principales operadores de telecomunicaciones coparon en este trimestre el 73,3% de los ingresos minoristas del sector, 1,4 puntos porcentuales menos que en el mismo periodo de 2019.
The group Masmovil y Euskaltel aumentaron sus ingresos minoristas en tasa interanual hasta representar el 8,5% y el 2,7% del total, respectivamente, mientras que los tres principales operadores redujeron sus ingresos procedentes de cliente final.
Redes de nueva generación
El total de accesos instalados de redes de nueva generación (NGA), which allow very high-speed connections, continued to grow in 2020. Thus, the year closed with 66.5 million accesses, 5.8% more than a year ago. The only accesses that grew were those corresponding to fiber to the home (FTTH), with almost 56 million accesses deployed compared to 52.2 million in December 2019.
Las active NGA connections amounted to 14 million, 9.7% more than a year ago. Those that grew the most were fiber to the home, which added 1.4 million new accesses in one year to 11.7 million.
At the end of last year, of the total park of 15.9 million fixed broadband connections, almost 87% had a contracted speed of 30 Mbps or more. And, of these lines (with a speed greater than or equal to 30 Mbps), 96.6% had a contracted speed of 100 Mbps or more.
In December 2020, 81.9% of fixed broadband lines belonged to the three main operators, 3.2 percentage points less than a year ago.
Mobile telephony and pay television
2020 closed with 55.6 million mobile lines; 86% of them with Internet connection.
Regarding the market share of the three main operators, in the fourth quarter it decreased by 2.3 percentage points. So, Movistar, Vodafone y Orange They took over 74.6% of mobile lines.
Lastly, it should be noted that the total television subscribers payment rose by 13.6% in the interannual rate until 8.2 million of subscribers. Television with IP technology continues to be the majority, with 4.8 million subscribers and 128 thousand more subscribers than a year ago.
