During the month of July, DSL and cable lines decreased, but 91,237 new FTTH lines were added.

Broadband July 2014 (Source: CNMC)According to the latest report from the National Markets and Competition Commission (CMNC) corresponding to last July, broadband is growing in Spain, driven by the addition of fiber optics to the home (FTTH), which added a total of 1,025,056 lines in July, surpassing the million-line barrier for the first time. FTTH lines increased by 91,237 new lines, 118.6% more than the previous year. On the other hand, DSL connections and coaxial cable (HFC) connections recorded losses (-67,951 and -12,203 lines respectively).

Mobile telephony continues the upward trend of recent months and added 215,281 new lines in July, in the fifth consecutive month of gains. The fleet of mobile lines exceeded 50.7 million lines, 1.3% more than the previous year. This implies 109.2 lines per 100 inhabitants.

Virtual mobile operators (MVNOs) added 153,553 new lines while Orange took over 67,227, Yoigo added 21,373 and Vodafone added 11,717 new lines. Movistar obtained a net loss of -38,589 lines.

In July, 529,389 mobile ports were registered, the highest number in the last four months. By operator, Movistar, Vodafone and Yoigo presented a negative net balance. The difference between numbers won and lost was -69,170 ports in Movistar, -32,738 in Vodafone and -1,530 in Yoigo. The OMVs recorded a positive balance in the exchanges of +100,471, while for Orange it was +2,967.

Fixed telephony lost 50,910 lines. The fixed fleet remains at 18.69 million lines, a proportion of 40.2 lines per 100 inhabitants.
