The Federation of Audiovisual Producers has held the elections for the new board of directors where producer Jordi B. Oliva, responsible for the award-winning animated feature film 'Josep', has been elected as the new president.

This Wednesday, April 7, the Federation of Audiovisual Producers (PROA) has held the elections for the new board of directors where the vote for the candidacy headed by the producer has been unanimously decided Jordi B. Oliva, who has been established as the new president of the entity and takes over from the producer Raimon Masllorens, which thus ends its fourth term.

The candidacy chosen and chaired by Jordi B. Oliva expresses the desire to consolidate the audiovisual sector in the industrial and cultural sphere, and to achieve this it breaks down a series of milestones that will mark the strategic lines of action of the Federation during the next two years.

Among the priority actions The new board highlights ensuring the management and application of European rescue funds; The recovery of other funds such as the 'fundillo' is also established as a line of work. Another highlighted objective is the mention of compliance with the investment obligation of television stations and platforms in independent audiovisual production. As a line of action, exhaustive monitoring is established to report bad practices and guarantee transparency.

Furthermore, the program presented claims the defense of the autonomy of the associations that make up PROA, is committed to fighting for their common interests and aims to promote the video game sector, just as we already work with fiction, documentaries, animation or television.

The will during the next biennium is to work to reaffirm the Federation of Audiovisual Producers as a strategic interlocutor with administrations such as the ICAA, the ICEC, the Conselleria d'Economía i Cultura, the Secretariat of State for Digital Advancement and the different political groups. The position of AVANT and APAIB as interlocutors with the governments of Valencia and the Balearic Islands, respectively, will also be strengthened.

Finally, Oliva explains that PROA will continue to influence the creation of the National Pact for Audiovisual in Catalonia, and we will work with the rest of the agents involved to establish strategic and political lines that stimulate the Catalan audiovisual industry.
With the next mandate, the Federation of Audiovisual Production Companies aims to maintain and strengthen the positioning of the entity as a sector representative and as a reference of opinion with the aim of defending the common interests of audiovisual producers.

Jordi B. Oliva has appointed Miriam Porté (Distinto Films) as executive vice president, to Martha Alonso (Teidees Audiovisuals) as secretary and a Ayuso's expenses (JWProductions) as treasurer.

The rest of the sectoral vice presidencies are represented by Iván Agenjo (Peekaboo Animation), animation; Ventura Durall (Nanouk Films), the documentary class; Valérie Delpierre (Inicia Films), fiction; Francis Escribano (Absolute Minority), television, and Xavier Carrillo-Costa (Digital Legends), video games.

The board of directors is completed by the members of Belen Sanchez (A Caprice of Productions), Sergi Moreno (VILAÜT Films), Raimon Masllorens (Brutal Media), Carlos Fernandez (Filmax), Lorena Lluch (AVANT), Marta Hierro (APAIB), Jordi Sellas y Maria Thérèse Cordon (Ubisoft).

A long career

Jordi B. Oliva began his professional career at the newspaper Avui where he specialized in international politics for a decade. Later he jumped into the world of audiovisuals where he focused on the management of sports rights and production for television.

Between 2007 and 2017 he combined the management of sports rights with television production at the head of a live event production services company. Since 2008 he has been executive producer at Imagic TV and produces television programs such as En Clau de Vi, Glops, Camí Particular.

Starting in 2014, he launched a new production line within Imagic TV specialized in animation, where he debuted with Horacio l'Inuit. He makes the leap to the big screen with the co-production of JOSEP, a multi-award-winning film applauded by critics and viewers, selected at the Cannes Festival and awarded best animated film at the César Awards, the European Film Awards and the Lumière Awards, among others.

Currently, Oliva is producing and developing two animated series, a short film, a new feature film and a live television program for a pay-per-view platform.
Now, he assumes the presidency of the Federation of Audiovisual Producers, which includes seven federated associations, 5 sectoral and 2 generalist: ProDocs (documentary), ProAnimats (animation), ProFicció (fiction), ProTV (television), DeviCAT (video games), APAIB (Balearic Islands) and AVANT (Valencian Community).
