The second day of the 5G Forum 2021 will have the presence of companies such as Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange, Cellnex and Minsait

The agenda of the second day of the 5G Forum 2021, which will be held on May 4, 5 and 6, will allow you to learn first-hand, with breadth and panoramic vision, the plans of Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange, Cellnex and Minsait on 5G.

The opening presentation of the second day of the 5G Forum 2021, which will take place from May 4 to 6, will be carried out by Antonio Fernández-Paniagua, of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, headed by Vice President Nadia Calviño.

Fernández-Paniagua will speak at a key moment to analyze the situation and actions in the frequency bands identified in the European Union as priorities for the development of 5G: the 700 MHz band, the 3.5 GHz band and the 26 GHz band, one of the most anticipated topics in 2021 in the telecommunications sector: the auctions of 5G frequencies.

He will give way to Fernández-Paniagua Jorge Alberto Jimenez, president of Axion, the telecommunications operator based in Seville that just six months ago was acquired from an Australian group by Asterion, the main Spanish venture capital fund dedicated to telecommunications.

Axión currently manages more than 5,000 service points distributed throughout Spain, in 635 towers. Furthermore, in 2018 the business expanded to fiber with Enagás through Axent to develop and market its joint radio and fiber infrastructure. Axent uses more than 4,600 km of fiber throughout Spain.

The fourth edition of the main specific event on 5G in Spain, organized by Medina Media which has Panorama Audiovisual as a media partner, will also have the three main telecommunications companies: Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange.

Mercedes Fernández, by Telefónica; Carlos Becker, by Vodafone; and Alfredo Vallejo, from Orange, will be the speakers who will share their 5G visions and pilots with attendees.

This new edition adds Minsait, a company Indra. Its managers David Serrano y Daniel Garcia, will present their vision of 5G in the industry and some use cases.

For its part, Hispasat, con Jose Luis Serrano, director of innovation and product strategy, will be in charge of highlighting the “perfect alliance” that 5G and satellite represent to bring this new technology to the last corner of Spain.

The best 5G projects

In addition, the second day of the 5G Forum 2021 will offer attendees a wide tour of Spain to learn about some of the best 5G pilot projects that are being worked on in Andalusia, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia and Madrid.

Telefónica will offer a panel to talk about the private 5G networks in Andalusia. And, then, the agenda of the 5G Forum will stop in Malaga with Pedro Merino, project manager 5Genesis and professor of the University of Malaga, to show, together David Artuñedo, by Telefónica, the “5G innovation sandbox” in the capital of the Costa del Sol, in whose National Digital Content Hub the first two in-person editions of the 5G Forum were held.

Cellnex, one of the main sponsors of the event, will explain in detail in a panel the 5G pilot that it is leading in Catalonia. Francis Javier Marcos, director of the Innovation Unit at Cellnex Telecom, will coordinate the round table on the main 5G project of the IBEX-35 star company in 2020, which has multiplied its value by 5 since it went public in 2015.

Currently, Cellnex Telecom is the main European operator of wireless telecommunications infrastructure, with a portfolio of 128,000 sites, 75,000 of them already in the pipeline and the rest in the process of closure or deployments planned until 2028. Cellnex operates in Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Denmark, Austria and Sweden.

For its part, Josep Marti, CEO of Nearby Computing, a startup initiative of the National Supercomputing Center and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), and participated by Cellnex, Lenovo and Elewit, will present its advances in edge computing and 5G at the 5G Forum 2021, uniting networks and apps.

Otra universidad también presente en esta segunda jornada del 5G Forum será la Carlos III University de Madrid. Su catedrática de Teoría de la Señal y Comunicaciones, Ana García Armada, presentará el proyecto Team Up 5G y hablará de técnicas de redes de acceso radio para 5G, considerando las redes móviles ultra-densas como un ingrediente clave de las redes móviles y su evolución.

El piloto 5G de Extremadura también será protagonista en la cuarta edición del 5G Forum, de la mano de Gamma Solutions, representada por Carlos Ortega, director de soluciones. La empresa extremeña hablará también del potencial de la tecnología 5G para su aplicación en el sector público y privado.

Por último, el director general de Estrategia de Televes, José Luis Fernández Carnero, presentará todo lo que la teleco gallega está haciendo actualmente en clave 5G.

El 5G Forum ya tiene abierto su registro de asistentes con una agenda en cuya primera jornada participarán multinacionales de Estados Unidos, Europa y Asia, como Ericsson, Cisco, Qualcomm, Nokia, Huawei, Mavenir, ZTE, Rohde&Schwarz, Keysight Technologies, Omdia,… además de representantes de la Comisión Europea, del Gobierno de España, del Observatorio Nacional 5G y de varias Universidades españolas.

Las sesiones empezarán a las 9:00 y terminarán a las 15:00, hora a partir de la cual se repetirá la programación para tener horarios de mañana, tarde y noche (pensando en Latinoamérica) , además de que todas las charlas estarán disponibles individualmente en la plataforma del 5G Forum Virtual nada más terminar cada una. Además, a las 15:00 del miércoles 5 de mayo dará comienzo el webinar ofrecido por Keysight Technologies.
