The Alicante Film Festival presents its 18th edition in Madrid

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain, located in Madrid, has hosted the presentation of the 18th edition of the Alicante Film Festival (29/05-05/06).

The presentation, framed in the acts of FEATURE, has had the presence of two of the personalities who will be honored by the contest this year: Kiti Manver, who will receive the Honor Award during the Festival; and Inma Cuesta, to which the City of Alicante Award.

Both will be added to the also recognized Isabel lame at the opening gala, which will take place on May 29 in it ADDA from Alicante. During the week, the eight films from the Official Section who compete for the highest award, the Tesela of Oro. They will arrive accompanied by 66 short films, Social and Mediterranean Cinema, and guest films.

Three winners

At the presentation ceremony, Mari Carmen Sánchez, vice mayor of Alicante, highlighted that it is the first time that the three winners are women, something she describes as “a well-deserved tribute to the role of women in Spanish cinema.”

Both Others Maneuver as Inma Cuesta They have been very grateful to the organization of the contest and to the city during printing. Maneuver, “very honored” by the recognition, has highlighted the diversity of sections in the festival and celebrates that the event can be held due to “the hardships that many colleagues and the profession itself are experiencing.” Cuesta, who will attend the appointment for the first time, hopes that this step will allow us to “recover the long-awaited normality” in order to “recover my life.”

A city overturned

Vicente Seve, director of the festival, wanted to highlight in his speech how Alicante will become the maximum reference of Spain regarding cinema during the celebration of the event: “These are days in which you can breathe cinema and culture throughout the city, but there is also music and other activities that complete a program for all audiences and tastes.”

In the presentation, they also wanted to cover the Alicante Film Festival the actors Armando del Río y Luis Miguel Segui; the actresses Marta Belenguer y Rebecca Sala; the filmmaker Ramon Margareto (Goya Award for best documentary short film 2011); the director of 75 days, the inaugural film of the Festival that deals with Alcásser's crimes, Marc Romero; and the casting director and jury member, Beloved Cross.
