The Alicante Film Festival receives more than a hundred projects for its Fiction Laboratory

He Alicante Film Festival has received 110 series and television projects for the third edition of its Fiction Project Proposals and Presentation Laboratory.

This initiative is organized together with the Local Development Agency of the Alicante City Council ImpulsAlicante with the support of the SGAE Foundation, through its Territorial Council of the Valencian Community.

It is a participation record, since last year 50 projects arrived, which shows the interest in this initiative and the world of cinema.

Among the 110 works presented, 17 projects have been selected that their students will be able to defend before professionals in the sector during the days of this Laboratory, which is part of the parallel activities of the Alicante Film Festival. The workshop is aimed at producers, directors, screenwriters or anyone with a fiction project, whether a series or feature film, to analyze their project.

The selected projects are The bad mother by Alicia Albares; Torrenta United Mafia the Angela Bosch; Long live Carmen of Colverd; I'm not that by David González and Rocio Martín; What we do by David Pascual; Ali&oli by Inés Muñoz and Andrea Martínez; the new world by Iñaki Sánchez Arrieta; You hard, I time by Javier Morales; Modern vertigo by Bárbara Monzú, Luna Zuazu and Pablo Chaves; The garbage dump children by Maider Ávila; You are not me by Marisa Crespo and Moisés Romera; Making off by Maxi Velloso; Spanish Girl’s Club by Miguel Hernandez; The fourth throne by Pedro Martínez; Challenging the butterflies by Sergio Yorca; Whisperers by Sergio Milan and Siblings of Sonsoles Represa. Of the selected projects, six are directed by women and this year an animated series enters for the first time The garbage dump children.

“This laboratory is the part that is closest to the industry of our Festival, an activity that has a wonderful reception that grows year after year and that would not be possible without the support of the City Council and the SGAE Foundation to whom I reiterate my gratitude,” he commented. Vicente Seva, director of the Alicante Film Festival, which will take place from May 29 to June 5.

The agenda

The program is divided into five days and will start on May 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the Caja Negra de Las Cigarreras with the round table Spanish cinema, sources of financing, consumption in theaters and on digital platforms. The session, moderated by the director of Film Days, Gerardo Sanchez, will have great professionals in the field such as Mercedes Gamero, director of Atresmedia Cine; María Rubín, Spanish film director of Movistar +; Jose Luis Moreno, director of Audiovisuals and Cinematography at the Valencian Institute of Culture; Geraldine Gonert, director of Conecta Fiction, and Fernando López Puig, Director of Contents and Channels at RTVE. The rest of the days will be held in the conference room of the Alicante Provincial Auditorium (ADDA).

The laboratory will continue the next day, June 1 at 10:00 a.m., with the theoretical presentation How to present a fiction project, in which the development of a fiction project will be explained, from the search for the idea to the final format of the sales dossier. All the steps will be explained, such as: discarding and accepting ideas, structuring them in a solid way, building characters, seeing the viability of the project, contacting production companies and platforms and managing the flow, and organizing the work to perform effectively in the creative part when carrying out fiction projects.

El miércoles 2 de junio a las 10 horas será el turno del Simulacro de Pitch real por parte del ponente en tiempo real, en el que se hará un simulacro de pitch de venta de un proyecto. Esta exposición a tiempo real y apoyada con material audiovisual dará paso a un posterior Q&A (Questions & Answer) donde se resolverán las dudas de los inscritos.

In addition, a presentation and evaluation of projects for Digital Platforms will take place on June 3 and 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in which attendees with projects will present them to the producers. Rodrigo Espinel, by Morena Films, and Jose Alberto Sanchez, by Chester Media Producciones, and Cesar Marti, director of content and programming at À Punt Media. The presentation time for each project is 15 minutes. After the pitch, the speaker will give the reply with the questions and doubts that the presentation of the project has suggested.
