Nigerian BossFM adopts a virtual environment with Lawo RƎLAY
The main studio of BossFM 95.5, an FM radio station broadcasting in Abuja, Nigeria, has been equipped with Lawo's RƎLAY IP-based virtual radio software, replacing its previous digital console.
With this major update, BossFM 95.5 becomes the first truly virtual radio station in the Nigerian capital.
The talent-first design and immediacy of studio-to-air desktop design are provided by Lawo's RƎLAY software suite, which offers a complete broadcast switcher with mixing, processing and routing from a touchscreen connected to a standard PC or laptop.
RƎLAY allows BossFM to mix 24 audio sources, as well as AES67-compatible AoIP signal streams, directly into the broadcaster's PC, for seamless audio production and output.
The owner of BossFM 95.5 especially appreciates the fact that "showing our hosts and staff the basic functionalities of this new tool took us only a couple of hours. The first program presented with our new virtual configuration went live that same afternoon."
Integration with third parties
RƎLAY's seamless integration with third-party hardware and applications has allowed BossFM to turbocharge its capabilities, with enough resource capacity to expand further, in line with future needs. Other members of the RƎLAY family of products, such as VPB Virtual Patch Bay, VSC Virtual Sound Card and AES67 Stream Monitor software, provide complete tools that make it possible to have an all-in-one radio station directly on a PC.
Opeyemi Ogunsaju, from Mega Cyber Plus, Lawo's partner in Nigeria, who handled system integration and support, confirms that "RƎLAY's simple and straightforward appearance is deceptive. This virtual radio suite brings professional radio production to any radio station, with audio over IP and internal routing."
