The adoption of Lawo technology by Fox Brasil has allowed the broadcaster to take an important step towards flexible and efficient content production in an IP environment.

Lawo on Fox Brazil

Coinciding with the celebration of the Soccer World Cup, Fox Brasil made the step from an analogue environment to a digital broadcast. Following its dismantling at the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) in Rio de Janeiro, the audio consoles, and audio/video routing system of Theirs have relocated to the Fox Brasil facilities, also located in Rio.

The Lawo equipment comprises a Nova73 HD central audio matrix, a mc²56 MKII console with 48 faders and two mc²56 MKII consoles with 32 faders each. Additionally, four V Pro8 video processing devices enable audio embedding and de-embedding at the heart of the broadcast center.

The move to digital was motivated by the need for greater flexibility, efficiency and reliability, which were crucial for coverage of the FIFA World Cup. The opportunity to use the new Lawo systems acquired for subsequent installation in the studio allowed Fox Brasil to not have to rent digital equipment during the championship.

"Being based on the Ravenna / AES67 standard, the Lawo equipment is easily integrated into our IP infrastructure. This ensures a future investment and represents an important step towards flexible and efficient content production," stated Luis Santos, Director of Engineering and Operations at Fox Brasil.

“We will be able to expand our IP infrastructure without having to restructure, and we will reach a new level of savings in time, costs and personnel expenses through productions from mobile units with less cabling and through the use of IP infrastructures,” he concludes.
