Hedge powers Postlab, a tool that enables cloud collaborative workflows in Avid Media Composer.

Postlab arrives, a native cloud solution compatible with Avid Media Composer enabling collaborative remote editing workflows developed by Hedge.

Postlab serves as an extension of a Connections local or other NAS/SAN storage compatible with Avid. By eliminating access gateways and the high latency associated with cloud workflows, Postlab to Media Composer seeks to provide a “great user experience, regardless of available bandwidth.” Hedge's solution is offered with a flexible pricing model which allows post-production facilities as well as broadcasters to use the Postlab platform “without commitment”, as well as scale their production whenever they wish.

Postlab for Media Composer, as Hedge points out, does not depend on VPNs, “allowing editors to start working immediately from anywhere, with no minimal Internet connection required.” In fact, when bandwidth is insufficient for real-time cloud operation, Media files are pre-configured and cached intelligently, so they are available for immediate editing. Postlab's workspace feature also allows editors cache an entire folder and its contents locally, so only metadata and lock files require synchronization, which is instant. On the other hand, Bin Locking Avid allows users to seamlessly collaborate on projects without overwriting each other's work.
