Avid Media Authoring
Now customers in facilities that handle a variety of input formats and deliver multiple output formats will be able to master and archive projects more efficiently with Avid Media Authoring. This new component of Avid Media Access (AMA) offers support for AS-02, a standard developed by the Advanced Media Workflow Association that helps post-production facilities simplify media management for versioning programs and expedite delivery to a variety of platforms and devices. Additionally, with the addition of the ability to support the JPEG 2000 codec, customers will be able to package streams for easy versioning and archiving, as well as scale streams to meet the needs of multiple passes of generational content, without media degradation. The Media Composer 6.5 product family also supports Active Format Description (AFD) to ensure a consistent audience experience regardless of reverse conversion or reformatting.
Hardware I/O release
With the launch of Hardware I/O control in Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter, customers using third-party hardware through Avid Open I/O will be able to customize their workflows even further. Now editors can simply toggle hardware on and off to pass control back and forth between Media Composer and third-party applications, such as Adobe After Effects or Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve. Additionally, editors will now be able to access software-only features, such as full-screen streaming, directly in Media Composer without having to go offline.
Audio improvements
Industry-leading audio tools Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter take a big leap forward with major new enhancements. Incorporating advanced audio keyframing speeds up the automation process within and between audio tracks. Additionally, with support for 64 audio voices, video editors will gain the power to work with multiple root mixes and re-output them all simultaneously.
Advanced rebind support
Editors will now gain the flexibility to interact with media from third-party applications, such as DaVinci Resolve, through expanded relinking support, allowing them to dynamically reconnect clips to new or original media using a variety of common metadata fields.
