TelevisaUnivision and Avid develop workflows on Google Cloud
In order to gain production flexibility and operational efficiency, TelevisaUnivision will use Media Composer, Nexis storage and MediaCentral platform from Avid on Google Cloud.
The hybrid cloud-based model will centralize Avid-based workflows for TelevisaUnivision's numerous news, sports, entertainment and drama production teams in Mexico and the United States, helping to improve capabilities for Quickly scale production resources in the cloud. This allows TelevisaUnivision to meet peak content demand and maximize cost efficiency by taking advantage of Avid's Flex subscription.
TelevisaUnivision distributes and produces content for more than 60 chains local television and broadcast channels in Mexico and the United States, as well as ViX, the first large-scale global streaming service created specifically for the Spanish-speaking world. This new collaboration aims to deploy the software Media Composer from Avid, as well as the MediaCentral platform and storage solutions Avid Nexus in the cloud for video editors and other content collaborators wherever they are, thus optimizing the flexibility of teams to collaborate in different territories.
Ralf Jacob, executive vice president of Global Broadcast Engineering at TelevisaUnivision, states that "an essential objective in our digital transformation journey is to look for ways to streamline workflows and simplify our complex processes, and the cloud is the key. Having the option to move our workflows from Avid to the cloud would significantly improve our efficiency and agility so that our production teams can focus more on creative tasks, streamline workflows and automate manual work."
TelevisaUnivision would be the first broadcast implementation of Avid technologies on Google Cloud, an important step forward for TelevisaUnivision's digital transformation journey towards building the media company of tomorrow.
