Álex Lora shoots 'Unicorns', his first feature film, in Alicante and Barcelona
After starting in Alicante, Barcelona now hosts the filming of Unicorns, the first feature film by Álex Lora, produced by Inicia Films (Girls, One for all, Summer 1993) y Jaibo Films (Holy Spirit), who has a long career as a short film director.
With a script by Pilar Palomero, Álex Lora, Marta Vivet and María Mínguez, the film stars Greta Fernández, along with Elena Martín, Alejandro Pau, Nora Navas, Pablo Molinero and Lidia Casanova, among others.
Álex Lora comments that "Unicorns explores through Isa's eyes - and her particular look - the limitations of a Millennial urbanite in an inexhaustible reality. The endless possibilities that open up in front of her and the opportunity to practically try everything, perhaps bring her to the brink of being left with nothing."
Its producer, Valérie Delpierre, defines the film as "a portrait of a generation that seeks, among other things, to redefine the role of women and their active participation in life decisions. A cosmopolitan microcosm that combines, through Alex's eyes, an independent film aesthetic as well as a global theme."
Unicorns Its protagonist is Isa, an intelligent, beautiful, spontaneous and self-confident young woman. Feminist and polyamorous, she defends her life tooth and nail. When Guillem proposes to be a monogamous couple, Isa is not sure she wants to change her lack of life. Given her lack of decision, Guillem decides to break up the relationship and Isa has to return to her mother's house.
Living in a world of appearances and comforts, the doubts between new and old loves, the fascination with new friends that make her leave the old ones behind, the professional doubts about her modern but precarious job, will make Isa's contradictions and her lifestyle come to light and her world will fall apart.
Álex Lora has a relevant career as a short film director. His works include Odysseus’ Gambit (Sundance 2012), Cave Circa (Sundance 2014, Gaudís 2014, Festival de Málaga 2014), Thy Father’s Chair (IDFA 2015, Documenta Madrid 2016) and The fourth kingdom (Málaga Festival 2019, Documenta Madrid 2019, San Sebastián 2019, Gaudí Prize 2020). Unicorns It is his first feature film that will hit theaters through Filmax.
