The 12 Spanish regional television networks grouped in FORTA, with the Catalan TV3 and the Andalusian Canal Sur at the helm, will be the main protagonists of the long-awaited in-person inauguration of the seventh edition of the 4K-HDR Summit.

With the entry, direct and indirect, of the 12 Spanish regional televisions grouped in FORTA, the number of television groups in Spain rises to 20, both public and private, that have already joined the UHD Spain association, which will hold its first General Assembly on November 15, coinciding with the first day of the 4K-HDR Summit that Medina Media Events, which has Panorama Audiovisual as a media partner, organizes in Malaga next week.

The 12 autonomous audiovisual entities join the 7 private groups that since January have already been part of UHD Spain as founders: Atresmedia individually and the association of private television stations UTECA (Union of Commercial Televisions of Spain), which represents groups such as Vocento (NetTV), Unidad Editorial (VEO), Trece (COPE), Ten (Secuoya), DKiss (Herrero) and Real Madrid TV.

To all of them we must add Televisión Española, which is a founding partner and holds the presidency of the UHD association in the person of its Director of Technological Strategy and Digital Innovation, Pere Vila.

FORTA (Federation of Autonomous Radio Television Organizations) integrates the public radio and television stations of 12 of the 17 Spanish communities: Andalusia, Catalonia, Madrid, Valencian Community, Galicia, Euskadi, Canary Islands, Castilla La Mancha, Murcia, Aragon, Asturias and the Balearic Islands.

In addition to FORTA, TV3 will also enter individually as a partner and Canal Sur as a collaborating company, since both want to have a more active role in UHD Spain, which the company will also join. Video-MOS as a partner and the multinational Synamedia and the Official College of Telecommunications Technical Engineers (COITT), as collaborators, bringing the total number of partners and collaborators of this non-profit association to 36.

FORTA declared in its application for membership, approved by its General Board, that “UHD is the technology of the present and future that allows Television to compete in quality with other modes of broadcasting, and that will enable a better user experience for its viewers for both the broadcast and broadband channels.”

Independently of FORTA's entry as an organization, the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (CCMA) also requested and was approved to enter UHD Spain as a full partner, after having obtained the respective approval from the Government of Catalonia.

The Catalan Corporation, better known nationally as TV3, explained that entering UHD Spain as a full partner “will allow our full involvement in the collaboration framework that UHD Spain represents: contributing our knowledge and experience and also acquiring new knowledge through participation in the different work teams.”

Los 30 founding partners de UHD Spain fueron: Grupo ADM, Ametic, Ateme, AtresMedia, Axión, Canon, Cellnex, Dolby, Drago/Secuoya, Egatel, Fecotel, Fenitel, Fraunhofer, Gsertel, Grupo Henneo, Hispasat, Hurí, Lavinia, Mediapro, Medina Media, RTVE, Rohde & Schwarz, Sapec, Tedial, Telecom Castilla La Mancha, Televés, TRedess, la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UTECA y Vestel.

The entry of new partners and collaborators is permanently open to all those companies and professionals interested in “promoting quality television together.”
