TBS exceeds with note the challenge of multise production of the Davis Cup
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos, the Sports Event Company created by Gerard Piqué, have relied on Telefónica Broadcast Services (TBS) For the production of the Davis Tennis signal that on this occasion transferred three venues, playing the technology of Riedel A leading role.
Raúl Izquierdo, Carlos Rojo and Jorge Cabrerizo, Technical Exploitation Manager, supervisor of mobile units and sound technician, respectively, in TBS they point in this video between some of the pillars on which the retransmission of this great event has been based.
On this occasion, Madrid, Innsbruck and Turin have shared the headquarters of the Davis 2021 Cup finals held between November 25 to December 5. Each of these cities housed two of the six groups of the tournament in the first phase. In the qualifiers rounds, the Italian city and the Austrian welcomed a quarter of each, while in Madrid two quarterfinals were played, the semifinals and the final.
TBS has collaborated with Kosmos in the design, production and distribution of all audiovisual contents of the event both direct (which in Spain issued exclusively Movistar+) and hundreds of clips for distribution in social networks.
The Telefónica subsidiary has turned to the generation of content, the technical production and international distribution of the different Davis Cup feeds, in addition to the services derived as Host Broadcaster for the different Rights Holders.
The heart of this infrastructure is the TOC (Technical Operations Center), from where all the signs were centralized; both those produced in Madrid with a mobile unit with 19 cameras and four EVS (among other teams), and those received from the other venues: Turin (Italy) and Innsbruck (Austria).
It is there where TBS had Riedel Mediornet, a solution that generates communications with all the necessary points to meet its requirements of its production. The system allows to have all kinds of switches from any point of the headquarters and all intercommunicated with optical fiber. The system has been used to provide several keys to the success of a Davis Cup category production: Video routed, audio routed, multipant, IP data traffic ...
In the sound section, in the production of the Davis Cup we worked with two nodes of 64 ports (TOC and mobile unit), communicated with each other. Taking advantage of the capabilities of the Riedel system, Telefónica Broadcast Services generated about 1,400 independent communication flows between them, either within the headquarters of Madrid itself or with the other two European headquarters of the competition.
Highlight, finally that TBS is a usual user of another of Riedel's flagship solutions. An intercom system from which its compatibility with AES67 and its simplicity of management stand out.
