ETB renews its corporate image on the occasion of its 40th anniversary

Starting January 1st, Basque Television (ETB) will launch a new corporate image, which aims to represent “the collective identity” that unites “Basques.”

The corporate redesign has been promoted with a news item released on December 28: the “finding” of a giant prehistoric egg “full of inscriptions” in the Basque Coast Geopark. The designer of the new image, the artist and illustrator Mikel Urmeneta He explained from the Arbil cave in Deba that “it was all a joke, a fool's errand, the presentation of a great ETB image campaign in which I am extremely proud to have participated.”

Urmeneta poses with this new visual identity que “ETB nace con el txantxangorri, este nace de un huevo y, por qué no, un huevo gigante de txantxangorri que sea la casa de todos los vascos y las vascas. El huevo como origen, como fuente de vida, como contenedor de todo lo vasco, del euskera, del propio txantxangorri y de todo lo que representa la televisión vasca”. Admite, además, que “le ha encantado el reto” y ha valorado la apuesta de ETB destacando que “será una cascada de cosas nuevas; ETB se la ha jugado, va a hacer algo realmente diferente”.

Esta imagen, “atrevida y rompedora”, sirve para arrancar el 40 aniversario de EITB, in which Basque public television maintains the commitment to become an “active agent of social transformation in Euskadi and the main speaker of everything we do abroad.” Unai Iparragirre, director of ETB, reiterates: "ETB aims to accompany Basque citizens on this path to advance towards a Basque society that is open to the world, that takes care of ancient traditions but sees it as essential to adapt to new times, that encourages the use of Basque and that reflects the diversity of society through its image and content, offering in addition to information and entertainment, educational content. All this, to become a model of quality public television to follow."
