The memory of Chile lives on with the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film for 'La cordillera de los Sueños'

The mountain range of dreams, Patricio Guzmán's ambitious story and tribute to the history of Chile, has been recognized by academics with the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film.

The documentary culminates Guzmán's trilogy that began with Nostalgia for the light y The mother-of-pearl button of Guzman. Dedicating on this occasion the narrative to the Andean mountain range, The mountain range of dreams (until, Atacama Productions) pessimistically represents the sociopolitical reality of Chile, revealing its past and recent history.

The award has been collected on site by the member of the Chilean film academy and producer of the film Alexandra Galvis, who has praised Guzmán: "I don't know another director who has spent 50 years of his life and who has dedicated his entire work to talking about memory. He has dedicated half a century to telling the unusual story of a country like Chile." For Galvis, the Goya is an award for the filmmaker's career, to the documentary, “a genre that is the only one he has used to tell this story,” and to the gift that Guzmán wanted to give to Chile: “May the country never forget and take care of its memory to build from there.”

The Mountain range of dreams has won in a category in which they also competed song without name (Peru), The Siamese (Argentina) and The wolves (Mexico).
