The memory of Chile lives on with the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film for 'La cordillera de los Sueños'

The mountain range of dreams, Patricio Guzmán's ambitious story and tribute to the history of Chile, has been recognized by academics with the Goya for Best Ibero-American Film.

The documentary culminates Guzmán's trilogy that began with Nostalgia for the light y The mother-of-pearl button of Guzman. Dedicating on this occasion the narrative to the Andean mountain range, The mountain range of dreams (until, Atacama Productions) pessimistically represents the sociopolitical reality of Chile, revealing its past and recent history.

The award has been collected on site by the member of the Chilean film academy and producer of the film Alexandra Galvis, quien se ha desecho en elogios a Guzmán: “No conozco otro director, que haya pasado 50 años de su vida y que haya dedicado toda su obra a hablar sobre la memoria. Él ha dedicado medio siglo a contar la insólita historia de un país como Chile”. Para Galvis, el Goya es un premio a la trayectoria del cineasta, al documental, “un género que el único que ha usado para contar esta historia”, y al regalo que Guzmán ha querido hacer a Chile: “Que el país nunca olvide y cuide su memoria para construir de ahí”.

The Cordillera de los sueños ha vencido en una categoría en la que también competían Canción sin nombre (Peru), Las siamesas (Argentina) y Los lobos (México).
