'Tres', an avant-garde reflection on sound and vital desynchronization, Goya for Best Sound

Daniel Fontrodona, Oriol Tarragó, Marc Bech and Marc Orts have had their important conceptual and technical work recognized in Three, a film directed by Juanjo Giménez Peña, with the Goya for Best Sound.

The fiction tells the life of C., a sound designer who take refuge in the cinema to escape from an increasingly oppressive environment that represents a sensory odyssey for the protagonists and the spectators. The sound equipment of this production VSI Ciobrelei, Manny Films y Frida Films has done important conceptualization work, since sound is a central element in the development of the plot.

When collecting the award, the sound team Three has thanked Gimenez for making a “unique” film with sound as the axis in a “narrative, creative and emotional” way, and to the team of Deluxe, who has participated directly in the completion of the film. Afterwards, Tarragona has highlighted the extensive post-production work what has meant Three. Although a period of between one and three months was initially planned, the equipment was finally delivered during six months to this project: "We went back and forth with the image editor, changing scene after scene. When he edited a fragment, we created sound, he understood the sound intention and remounted the image according to our intention."

The sound engineer has also remarked that the film has been quite a “headache”, although the result has been completely satisfactory, since “Juanjo Giménez has broken all the schemes of cinematographic language and has taken them further.”
