'Sirât' enters the race for the Oscar for best international film and best sound
'Sinners' becomes the most nominated film in Oscar history with the Academy awarding it a total of 16 nominations. For its part, the Spanish 'Sirât', directed by Oliver Laxe, will compete in the categories of best international film and best sound at the 98th edition of the awards.
After an unstoppable journey, Sirât, whose premiere in the United States is carried out by Neon (which, in its day, brought the Oscar-winning films to the big screen Parasites y Anora), could win two statuettes of the five for which he was competing. The film presents the story of a father (Sergi López) embarked on a desperate search for his daughter, who has disappeared at a rave in the desert.
On the other hand, Sinners, Ryan Coogler's blues-infused vampire epic, leads the nominations with 16, two more than productions such as Eve naked (1950), Titanic (1997) y La La Land (2016), who achieved 14 each of them. The revolutionary father-daughter saga of Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle After Another, has come in second place in the nominations for the 2026 Oscars by achieving 13 mentions.
Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman have been in charge of announcing from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills (California) the list of nominees for the 24 categories of the Oscars whose award will take place on March 15 in Los Angeles in a ceremony that will be hosted by Conan O'Brien. We will have to wait until next January 22 to know the final nominations that will compete for the Oscar.
