Canal Extremadura will invest 5.9 million euros in its new headquarters

A transfer of 5.9 million euros from the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings will allow the regional audiovisual corporation Extremadura Channel convert the old Acorex facilities into its new headquarters.

Extremadura Channel It will finally have its own headquarters that is fully equipped and efficient from an energy and environmental point of view. After the transfer in 2019, by the Government of Extremadura, of the old facilities of Acorex in the “El Prado” Industrial Estate in Mérida, and the transfer to the administrative building of certain operational areas such as administration services, the next necessary step is the adaptation of facilities agricultural industrial facilities, in disuse for years, to the activity of a multimedia corporation, in such a way that they can house all of Canal Extremadura's activity.

This adaptation will be possible through the investment of 5.9 million euros, which by virtue of the agreement that will be signed with the Extremadura Audiovisual Media Corporation, approved by the Government Council, will be transferred by the Government of Extremadura, under the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings.

Thanks to this investment, linked to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and the European Recovery funds, the current disused agro-industrial facilities will become a building of high architectural quality, energy efficient and sustainable, which will include bioclimatic control elements and will allow the unification of all the operational areas of Canal Extremadura, enhancing its public service activity and favoring resource efficiency.

The adaptation works will materialize the “Technological Earth” project, winner of the ideas contest called in 2020 for this purpose. Once the project and the transfer are completed, Canal Extremadura will finally have its own unified headquarters, after more than 16 years since its launch.
