'The Unit' will have a third season

The Unit, acclaimed by critics, has been well received outside our borders, awakening interest internationally. The series of Movistar Plus+ produced together with Buendía Studios It can now be seen on HBO in the US and Latin America, RAI or Amazon, among others.

Created by Dani de la Torre and Alberto Marini, will have a third season that will begin filming this year 2022 and that will take the team led by Carla Torres (Nathalie Poza) to Afghanistan, where they will have to face the threat of jihadist terrorism from a high-risk position that they had not experienced before.

The usual creative team of the series continues to lead this project that will once again feature Nathalie Poza as Carla Torres, Marian Álvarez as agent Miriam and Michel Noher as Marcos, head of La Unidad.

The second season of The Unit has been confirmed as a great success with critics and audiences which has placed it at number 1 in consumption on Movistar Plus+ in the month of March. The first season already became the most viewed content on the platform in the month of its premiere, in May 2020. In addition, the series has proven to be very addictive and beats the successful premiere of its first season in sustained audience figures. The complete viewing of T2, released on March 18, exceeds that of T1 by 12%.

This thriller owes its outstanding realism to the advice provided by the General Information Commissariat of the National Police (CGI). This collaboration with the creative team has been key to representing with the greatest fidelity the police work of this Spanish unit considered among the best in the world in the fight against terrorism.

Regarding the third season, Dani de la Torre comments that "the eviction of Kabul and the arrival of the Taliban has been something that has moved us, it was a defeat for all of humanity that has hit women and children especially hard. Now no one talks about what happened and how important that defeat is and continues to be. That is why we have decided that La Unidad travel to Afghanistan and live with them up close everything that happened and continues to happen there. We have to make visible that, while in "If a country does not respect fundamental rights, if all other countries give up, we have failed."

Alberto Marini adds that "just as happened with the second season, our intention now is also to avoid repeating the formula and changing the recipe. We move to Afghanistan in August 2021, at the turbulent time of the Taliban's takeover, where Carla Torres fights her own personal battle to achieve what seems impossible: to reunite what remains of the Unit that has been irremediably touched and cracked after the events of the previous season."
