Evertz continues cloud transition with new solutions at NAB

Among other solutions, Evertz is demonstrating at NAB 2022 its latest offerings for the transition to live production and contribution workflows in the public and private cloud.

Evertz continues to drive the transition to the cloud by designing a comprehensive playout ecosystem that focuses on cloud-agnostic versions of the core contribution and production elements within its workflow, while supporting both on-premises and distributed hardware within the content stream.

A key element within Evertz's cloud-based solutions is providing customers with a powerful, low-bandwidth cloud on-ramp option for easy and convenient contribution of high-quality video with ultra-low latency to production and broadcast applications.

The popular series of encoders/decoders live video XPS Evertz can be deployed at the edge to feed live video, audio and data to Reflector, Evertz's software-as-a-service (SaaS) IP distribution (IP DA) platform.

Offering complete processing and transcoding directly in the cloud, Reflektor is a valuable tool for managing the growing number of signal formats (MPEG-TS, NDI, ST 2110, HLS, MPEG DASH, etc.) that a traditional broadcast can produce. It uses cloud-licensed microservices to normalize signal types to best fit the needs of the end user or end application, making it an ideal cloud solution for UHD/4K field contribution, remote production, feedback monitoring, remote collaboration, and cloud production.

For live event production, Evertz continues to expand and enhance its award-winning platform BRAVO Studio Virtualized Production Suite, which provides broadcasters and content creators with all the traditional elements of a production control room directly in the cloud.

Remote users located anywhere can use BRAVO Studio's web-based interface to access live video streams hosted on any cloud provider to complete standard live production functions, including live switching, live graphics, and slow-motion replay.

It supports SRT, RIST, and Zixi to ensure live UHD/4K video and audio signals are reliably and securely sent and received directly from the cloud with minimal latency.

On the other hand, Evertz has also developed multi-screen and monitoring solutions cloud-based solutions that can combine multiple broadcast signal formats into a unified multi-image array for unmatched density and performance.

The cloud-based multiscreen cVIP and high-density IP multiviewer VIP are Evertz's next-generation multiviewer platforms for media companies, both supporting end-to-end monitoring of IP payloads, including video, audio, subtitles, and more. cVIP allows customers to leverage on-prem or cloud hardware platforms, with the flexibility to run cVIP software on a wide range of Intel-based hardware options based on the number of inputs and outputs required.

cVIP enables monitoring of NDI, JPEG XS or AWS CDI signal channels and support for multiple single mosaic outputs using NDI, JPEG Meanwhile, sVIP combines the computing power of FPGA, CPU and GPU processors to allow customers to take advantage of data center-class servers provided by Evertz or the customer, without sacrificing density and performance. sVIP is ideal for on-premises data centers or off-premises cloud services, allowing users to monitor uncompressed (SMPTE ST 2022-6 or ST 2110) and compressed (MPEG-2, H.264, HEVC, JPEG 2000, or JPEG XS) IP streams.

DreamCatcher BRAVO Studio

At NAB 2022, Evertz revealed that DreamCatcher BRAVO Studio will now be available in Microsoft Azure Marketplace, allowing media companies and enterprises a flexible and cost-effective all-in-one production studio for multi-camera live events.

The Live Collaborative Switching Platform DreamCatcher BRAVO Studio, which offers operators a virtual environment similar to that of a traditional control room, has added features to make operators comfortable producing programs in the cloud. By combining access to all inputs with web-based interfaces, Bravo Studio can be used for any production, regardless of size or scale.

This is being demonstrated at NAB, where broadcasters in the live sports or entertainment programming market are discovering its full range of features, including video/audio mixing, dynamic graphics, support for external graphics engines, replays and highlights.

The DreamCatcher BRAVO Studio live and remote production toolset also includes Studer Audio, which integrate with Evertz live production tools for a complete audio mix; new metadata copilots for Bravo Studio, which help automate and simplify production workflows, and the Ease Live graphics engine, which makes it much faster and easier for those using Bravo Studio to improve the viewing experience by producing interactive, data-driven graphics. There is also the option to leverage real-time data collected by sensor-based systems, including ShotTracker on the court and in the field, to automate camera workflows.

Lumen con Evertz

Coinciding with NAB 2022, Evertz has announced that Lumen Technologies will use its Scorpion intelligent media processing platform for its next-generation contribution network that connects to major stadiums in the United States for live sports.

Through Lumen Vyvx Broadcast Solutions, the company offers live events and video on demand with end-to-end digital streaming.

Now, it has invested in the Scorpion platform to upgrade its Vyvx offering by improving its ability to support customers with multiple UHD and 1080p HDR video signals.
