José María García Mediano

Linked to RTVE For 35 years (in the last decade he has been director of Personnel Management), José María García Mediano has been appointed new director of the Corporation's Production Center in the Canary Islands.

Replaces in office Domingo Alvarez, to whom RTVE thanks the work he has done at the head of RTVE in the Canary Islands since 2014.

García Mediano began his career at RTVE in April 1987 in the Human Resources department (Payroll Department). In 2007 he became Head of Unit of the Entity in Liquidation, where the 4,150 dismissals in the company due to the Employment Regulation File were managed.

In 2008 he was appointed director of Compensation and Remuneration and in 2011 he became director of Personnel, an area on which Payroll, Social Security, Time and Hour Control, Allowances, Personnel Management and Administration depend.

During this stage, among other issues, he has participated very actively in the negotiation of the Corporation's three collective agreements, in the implementation of SAP and development of functionalities, in the negotiation of work agreements, and in the coordination of the implementation of teleworking during the pandemic.

RTVE in the Canary Islands began its broadcasts in February 1964 and for six decades it has witnessed all the events of national and international significance that occurred in the Archipelago or its area of ​​influence. It has main headquarters in the two capitals, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and information units in the five remaining islands.

In 2010, a new stage began with the inauguration of its new production center in the Canary Islands, which houses TVE and RNE in Las Palmas.
