Argonautas - RTVE - Portocabo - Clan

This summer, A Coruña and Laxe will host the filming of Argonauts, a co-production of RTVE y Portocabo with the support of AGADIC (Xunta de Galicia) which is the first children's series live action for Clan.

Argonauts, one more step RTVE in its objective of decentralizing production and exploring new avenues of co-production, has been presented at an event at the Museum of Fine Arts of A Coruña which they have attended Yago Fandiño, director of children's content at RTVE and Clan; Alfonso Blanco, CEO of Portocabo and executive producer of the series; Román Rodríguez, acting Minister of Culture and Education of the Xunta de Galicia; Jacobo Subtle, director of AGADIC (Galician Agency for Cultural Industries); José Luis Pérez Añón, mayor of Laxe, and Jesus Celemin, Councilor for Education, Historical Memory, Innovation, Industry and Employment of the City Council of A Coruña.

Yago Fandiño has highlighted the interest of the Corporation in carrying out this type of productions: original stories, filmed in Spain; series that provide a fresh point of view and represent values typical of public television. Argonauts, produced in Galicia, follow the channel strategy by open the range to new productions in different regions that the Corporation has undertaken in recent years.

This specific measure offers an economic injection for Galician independent production companies, something that, in addition to attracting filming to the autonomous community, increases competitiveness and strengthens the Galician audiovisual fabric. This is an operation financed by the European Union, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as part of the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Argonauts, aimed at a target between 8 and 12 years old, is an aspirational series, in which a gang of five friends will live a “different summer.” Together “they will be involved in a great adventure facing dangers and discovering the value of friendship.” The series is inspired by great classics of literature and cinema as The club of five o Los Goonies, but adapted to the 21st century.
