RTVE and Portocabo begin filming 'Los argonauts', a live-action children's series
Laxe and A Coruña will host the filming of The Argonauts, the first live-action children's series for Clan produced by RTVE y Portocabo.
Inspired by great classics, such as The club of five o Los Goonies, adapted to the 21st century, The Argonauts Bring together a gang of five friends who will experience a different summer. Together, they will be involved in a great adventure facing dangers and discovering the value of friendship. The series is committed to diversity, opening windows to immigrant communities, small and not so small, like Cape Verde, which enrich our society. Another facet that it includes is the overcoming barriers, since the fiction features the character of Olivia, a deaf girl who has no problems communicating with others, and her family, different and perfectly integrated.
The meeting at the start of filming was attended by Yago Fandiño, director of children's content at RTVE and Clan; Alfonso Blanco, CEO of Portocabo and executive producer of the series; Jacobo Subtle, director of AGADIC (Galician Agency of Cultural Industries); José Luis Pérez Añón, mayor of Laxe, and Fernando Ojea, Content Director of tvg. They were accompanied by the directors of the series, Toño López y Lucia Estevez, and part of the cast, which includes performers such as Eva Fernández, Federico Pérez and young Aliyah Fidalgo, Sarela Montes, Brais Sixto, Claudia Pujaldes, Juan Rodríguez, Lúa Varela and Xoel Río. Fandiño He stressed that, just as “RTVE has marked the memories of several generations through family series and films,” its objective is that “Argonauts becomes the memories of the Alphas and, more importantly, a window to the way these girls and boys see and understand the world.”
On the other hand, Alfonso Blanco wanted to highlight the area in which filming will take place during these months: We chose as the main setting for the series a natural area of enormous wealth such as Laxe, on the Galician Costa da Morte; a culturally active town where tradition and modernity coexist with white sand beaches and steep coasts, rivers and coastal forests." Nor did he want to miss the opportunity to remember that "this is a format with little presence in the Spanish market, but it has enormous potential and has already raised interest in large distributors worldwide." This is not the first time that Portocabo has worked on the format, since it has just produced series such as The Avatars y Miracle Tunes, two series kids live action of great international repercussion.
The fiction, which has had the support of the HUB Audiovisual of the Council of Galicia managed by AGADIC, it is created by José Rubio and Alfonso Blanco. It has Alfonso Blanco (Portocabo) and Borja Galvez (RTVE) as executive producers, while the script is signed by José Rubio, Alexis Barroso, Sara Gómez, Carlota In y Nina Hernández. Finally, Lucia C. Pan has been confirmed as director of photography, while she will be in charge of editing On Rodriguez.
