Television Academy - European Parliament

Una delegación de la junta directiva y del consejo de la Television Academy ha impulsado y participado en un importante número de iniciativas sobre el sector audiovisual en el European Parliament de Bruselas.

El encuentro, organizado en colaboración con la European Parliament Office in Spain, was attended by María Andrés, directora del PE en España; Maria Casado, president of the Television Academy; Esperanza Ibanez of Netflix; Jesus Lozano of Atresmedia; Juan Emilio Maillo of Movistar Plus+; María Eizaguirre of RTVE; Francisco Moreno of FORCE; Rosa García Cuevas of Pass; Jorge Losada of Castilla y León Television, y una amplia representación de la junta directiva de la Academia.

Television Academy - European ParliamentLa delegación pudo asistir a la apertura de la sesión plenaria del Parlamento Europeo presidida por Roberta Metsola. Después, participó en un encuentro con Jaume Duch, general director of Communication and EP spokesperson; Jesus Carmona, media director, y Raffaella de Marte, head of media unit, where the keys to the European media agenda for the coming months and the importance of the European Parliament as a center of political and media attention were addressed. Furthermore, the representatives of the EP conveyed to the members of the Television Academy the facilities that the institution provides to the media to carry out coverage on site. The delegation was able to visit the audiovisual facilities that the EP has available to television stations in Brussels.

The Television Academy also participated in a meeting with the Culture and Education Committee of the EP in which they intervened representatives of various political parties and who presided Sabine Verheyen of the EPP. During this meeting, the representatives of Spanish television and platforms were able to directly convey their ideas to the members of the Commission. impressions and concerns about the European audiovisual directive whose transposition has already been approved in our country. In addition, they raised topics of interest to be addressed as future challenges that affect the audiovisual sector in the different television models.

Finally, the president of the Television Academy, Maria Casado, moderated a meeting that was broadcast live through YouTube on the challenges of audiovisuals in the new European context, where such interesting topics as the war in Ukraine, the next NATO Summit or misinformation in society were addressed.

The debate included the participation of Jaume Duch, spokesperson for PE; Álvaro de Elera, member of the cabinet Vera Jouroa, Commissioner for Securities and Transparency; Marta Carazo, correspondent of RTVE; Guillermo Pascual, correspondent of Antenna 3, y Joan Raventós, correspondent of TV3.
