The Goya 2023 will take place on February 11 in Seville with a crucial novelty

Sevilla será la sede de la 37 edición de los Goya Awards, que se celebrarán el sábado 11 de febrero de 2023 en el Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones FIBES, y que contará con una importante novedad: se pasará de las cuatro a las cinco nominaciones en todas las categorías.

La fecha y ubicación de los Goya 2023 se ha anunciado en un acto que ha estado encabezado por el presidente de la Academia de Cine, Fernando Méndez-Leite; el alcalde de la capital andaluza, Antonio Muñoz, and the vice president of the institution, Rafael Portela. Until now, except for Best Film and Best Fiction Short Film, all categories had four candidates. The Board of Directors of the Academy has decided that in the next edition of the Goya Awards the number will go from current four to five nominations in each category”.

"The Academy takes another step to recognize the talent of our creatives and technicians. Films and performances will have more chances of entering the nominations in a year in which there is a very high level. There will be more nominees than ever in Seville, where we will celebrate the Goya 2023 with a great gala," said the president of the institution.

Seville, capital of cinema

At the press conference in which the announcement was made, Mendez-Leite He also indicated that the capital of Seville would be imbued with the spirit of the Goyas with a series of activities which the Sevillian public will be able to enjoy (screenings of the nominated films accompanied by meetings with their authors and/or protagonists, round tables with professionals from our industry, exhibitions, concerts and a photocall which will be installed in the City Hall to be photographed with a replica of a Goya Award), actions that will culminate in the night of February 11 of next year.

Ante un auditorio con presencia de cineastas y representantes de la industria audiovisual sevillana y andaluza, Muñoz ha emplazado a aprovechar esta nueva oportunidad que ofrece la gala: “Además de ser un escaparate para la imagen nacional e internacional de Sevilla, debe servir para fortalecer el tejido empresarial y generar una industria audiovisual más sólida”, ha dicho.
