Granada will host the Goya 2025 gala on February 8
The Film Academy has confirmed that the Granada Exhibition and Congress Palace will host the 39th edition of the Goya Awards, which will take place on February 8, 2025.
The venue and date of the 2025 edition of the Goya have been announced in an institutional event headed by the president of the Film Academy, Fernando Méndez-Leite and the mayor of the city, Marifran Carazo, who were also accompanied by the vice president of the institution, Rafael Portela, and the councilors of Culture and Presidency of the city, Juan Ramón Ferreira y Jorge Saavedra.
Mendez-Leite has defined as “exciting” the start of the race towards a new edition of the Goya Awards “in a city as emblematic and unique as Granada, which will surely throw itself into our gala with the excitement of the first times.” “Our films and those who make them possible will be the protagonists of a selection of events (exhibitions, screenings of nominated films, meetings, educational actions...) that will be held here during the more than 10 months that separate us from what will be our big night,” stressed Méndez-Leite.
Carazo, for its part, has anticipated that the city is already preparing “a multitude of events” to “celebrate this gala as it deserves and also for the city as a whole to enjoy.” The councilor also stressed that Granada "is immersed in an exciting cultural project, we are working on our candidacy as European City of Culture for 2031 and there the cinema and the large stages it offers will be very present, hence the importance of the audiovisual arts in all its manifestations."
The next edition will be octave in the history of the Goya Awards in which the gala is held outside Madrid. So far, the Goyas have traveled to Barcelona, Seville, Malaga, Valencia and Valladolid.
