On July 22, the Caja Mágica of Madrid will host the award ceremony for the IV Platinum Awards for Ibero-American Cinema
During the week of the awards ceremony, which will be broadcast by RTVE and TNT for all Ibero-American countries, Madrid will host the VI EGEDA – FIPCA Ibero-American Audiovisual Forum and screenings of the participating feature films will be held.
The Caja Mágica in Madrid will host the award ceremony for the fourth edition of the Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards next Saturday, July 22. This was revealed by the Board of Directors of the first global Ibero-American awards for the seventh art in Spanish and Portuguese in an event held in the Crystal Gallery of Madrid City Hall. The ceremony, which will be broadcast by RTVE and TNT throughout Ibero-America, will be accompanied by numerous activities, such as the VI EGEDA – FIPCA Forum on Ibero-American Audiovisuals or screenings of participating feature films.
During the presentation, the actors Adrián Lastra, Asier Etxeandía, Ernesto Alterio, Leticia Dolera, Natalia de Molina and Juan Pablo Shuk announced the 20 candidates for each category, with which the international Jury will determine the five final nominations that will be announced on May 31. A Monster Comes to See Me, by Juan Antonio Bayona with 8 nominations, The Man of a Thousand Faces, by Alberto Rodríguez with 4; Julieta, by Pedro Almodóvar, also with 4 and Tarde para la ira, by Raúl Arévalo with 3 are the top Spanish contenders to be among the finalists.
One hundred and forty-two productions passed the first preselection, carried out by film institutions from the 23 countries of Latin America, out of the 847 participating works that were announced on March 12 at the 32nd Film Festival in Guadalajara, Mexico. In this second phase the number has been reduced to 104 titles that are eligible for the final nominations. The Spanish representation is made up of 17 productions framed in the different sections. They aspire to the Platinum Award for Best Ibero-American Fiction Film The Man of a Thousand Faces, by Alberto Rodríguez; Juliet, by Pedro Almodóvar and A monster comes to see me, by Juan Antonio Bayona. Juan Antonia Bayona competed for Best Direction, for A monster comes to see me; Pedro Almodóvar, for Juliet and Raúl Arévalo, for Late for anger.
Barbara Lennie continues in the race for the Platinum Award for Best Female Performance, for Maria (and the others); Emma Suárez, by Juliet and Penélope Cruz, for The Queen of Spain. Eduard Fernández opts for the Platinum nominations for Best Male Performance, for The man of a thousand faces and Roberto Álamo for May God forgive us.
1898. The last of the Philippines, by Salvador Calvo and Late for anger, by Raúl Arévalo remain contenders to be among the finalists for the Platinum Award for Best Ibero-American Fiction First Feature. In the same position are Born in Syria, by Hernán Zin and fragile balance, by Guillermo García López in the category of Best Documentary Film; and Witchcraft, of Virginia Curia; Ozzy, by Alberto Rodríguez, Nacho La Casa; Psychonauts, the forgotten children, by Alberto Vázquez Rico, Pedro Rivero Aurre and Teresa and Tim, by Agurtzane Intxaurraga for the Platinum for Best Animated Film.
Neruda and Rara, from Chile; from there, from Venezuela; The illustrious citizen, from Argentina; The chosen ones, from Mexico; Boi Neon, from Brazil or The companion, from Cuba, are among the productions with the highest number of nominations.
In the new category dedicated to the Best Ibero-American Television Series or Cinematographic Miniseries, Spain is represented by The ministry of time y Velvet.
The poster for the 2017 edition of these awards has been designed by Mariscal, also creator of the Platinum Trophy and logo, in which one of the most cinematographic corners of the capital of Spain, the Callao Cinemas, occupy a prominent place since they will have a special role during the celebration of the awards.
The Platino Awards galas held in Panama, Marbella and Punta del Este, have been attended by great Ibero-American stars such as Antonio Banderas, Sonia Braga, Eugenio Derbez, Leandra Leal, Ricardo Darín, Angie Cepeda, Guillermo Francella, Dolores Fonzi, Antonio de la Torre, Paulina García, Javier Cámara, Adriana Barraza and Joaquim de Almeida. The last ceremony was broadcast by 17 television channels on five continents, making the Platino Awards a World Trending Topic.
The Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards promoted by EGEDA (Audiovisual Producers' Rights Management Entity), with FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers), and with the support of the Ibero-American Film Academies and Institutes, Latin Artist and the AISGE Foundation, have been working since their first edition in 2014, in which the triumphs in the most prestigious festivals are also translated in excellent results at the box office and that our cinema has the distribution it deserves.
