The Riviera Maya will host the Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards for the third year
The ceremony will be broadcast by TNT and the main free-to-air television networks of the Ibero-American countries.
For the third consecutive year, the Riviera Maya will host the Gala of the Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards. The ceremony of the VII edition will be held again at the Gran Tlachco Theater in Xcaret on May 3, 2020 and will be broadcast live on TNT (Warner Media), a television that broadcasts other major events such as the Grammys, Oscars or Golden Globes in Latin America, as well as on the television stations of large Ibero-American communication groups.
The global awards of the audiovisual industry of the 23 Ibero-American countries will repeat their venue, after finishing an initial stage in which they went through other countries such as Panama in 2014, Spain (Marbella) in 2015, Uruguay (Punta del Este) in 2016, Spain (Madrid) in 2017 and Mexico (Riviera Maya) in 2018 and 2019. With this, the Platino Awards want to give continuity to a destination that has proven to be an unrivaled meeting point to show the excellence of our cinema and give prominence to the industry and Ibero-American talent.
The gala, which last year was presented by the Mexican actress Cecilia Suárez and the Spanish actor Santiago Segura, has brought together, for seven years, the most important representatives of the audiovisual industry in Ibero-America such as directors, producers and performers of international stature, as well as the most outstanding talents from each of the countries, which make the Platino Awards the most important event in Ibero-American cinema and culture.
The value of the media impact of the sixth edition was quantified at a figure greater than 110 million dollars (data from Kantar Media and Barlovento Comunicación), generating an EPV (Equivalent Advertising Value) of 71 million dollars for Riviera Maya. The more than 300 journalists accredited for the ceremony contributed to generating more than 113,000 news items during the 2019 edition and disseminating Ibero-American audiovisual culture throughout the world.
The Platinum Ibero-American Cinema Awards promoted by EGEDA (Entity for the Management of Rights of Audiovisual Producers), with FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers) and with the support of the Iberoamerican film academies and institutes, Latin Artis and the AISGE Foundation, have been working since their first edition in 2014 on their main objective, which is to achieve the promotion and dissemination of Ibero-American fiction in the world, that the successes achieved in the most prestigious festivals also translate into excellent results in commercial theaters and that our cinema and our audiovisuals have the distribution they deserve.
